Each year, Midway produces about 18 million board feet of lumber. The company gets about 50% of its fibre from land it holds under license with the province, and buys the rest on the open market. Located at the edge of the boreal forest, Midway is able to make use of a wide range of species—including maple, birch, oak, white pine, red pine, jack pine and spruce. It has created niche markets for softwoods, such as white pine panelling and jack pine decking.
